- Mount Vernon Place
This park area features landscaped squares fronted by elegant mansions and townhouses. This is a beautiful park anytime of the year and it hosts events throughout the year.
- The Original Washington Monument
Standing 176 feet tall (including Washington’s statue), the monument was completed in 1829. A unique view of the city can be seen from the top of the 227 marble steps. A grand street party is held each year during the holiday season with the lighting of the monument.
- The George Peabody Library
Designed in 1878 by Baltimore architect Edmund G. Lind, the Peabody is described as a “cathedral of books.” It features 300,000 books and cast-iron balconies that overlook the main hall. When you visit this location, you will understand why so many couples choose it for their wedding.
- The Mount Vernon Flower Mart
The Mount Vernon Flower Mart takes place every year in early May, and it dates back to 1911. While it is a great place to stroll around a neighborhood in full bloom, the market is also an excellent place to buy flowers or wares from local vendors.
- Club Charles
Located outside of the Mount Vernon area, but a close neighbor, this is one of the city’s most iconic watering holes. For more than 70 years, Club Charles has been a fixture of Baltimore. Think neon signs and unexpected trapeze performances. No wonder one of its most famous patrons is the town’s crown jewel, filmmaker and chief provocateur, John Waters.
