In 2008, the first citizenM hotel opened at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. It was, in a word, different. No reception desk, no lobby, no white-glove restaurant. The team was the perfect size – big enough for fabulous guest service, yet small enough for guests to see the same friendly faces again and again.
We took this successful approach around the world… and eventually, it was time to think of Switzerland. Was the land of luxury ready for affordable luxury? Would the fans of fondue also be fans of our fluffy pillows? It turned out – yes. The citizenM Zurich and Geneva hotels – both in prime Old Town spots in their respective cities – were enthusiastically booked by business and leisure travellers from day one. Each hotel features easy access to the airport, superb public transport connections to the rest of the city, and major business and fun destinations just a short walk from our front door.
All guests enjoy the citizenM contactless stay. Using our app, guests check-in on their own phone on the way to the hotel. One stop at the kiosk to pick up a key card and activate it with their phone. The room is also controlled by the app – lights, blinds, temperature, TV and entertainment. And on departure day, it’s an easy app check-out.
